A new strain of COVID-19 has been recently discovered in the State of California. There has also been an increase in the overall number of COVID-19 cases throughout the state. As a result, LA County is requiring all schools to submit daily symptom information from students and staff. The new policy is a proactive measure that has been taken to prevent another outbreak and minimize the negative consequences of the new strain to public health and the economy.
The new strain may cause Encephalitis. Encephalitis is inflammation of tissues in the brain, which causes the brain to swell. This can lead to headaches, sensitivity to light, mental confusion and seizures.
